St. Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to the United States, Jacinth Henry Martin has attended TECRO Dragon Boat Festival in Washington DC. The Boat festival was held on Saturday, 16 May 2026 at the Georgetown Waterfront Park and Thompson Boat Center in Washington DC in the US.
The Ambassador explained the significance of the boat festival after the conclusion of the event, she stated that the event highlights the prominent community features including inspiring friendship among the teams. People enjoyed together in different segments including and off the water during the Washington DC TECRO Dragon Boat Festival.
She even mentioned that the day was perfect for the hosting of the Taiwan USA Cultural Association (TUSCA) as they experienced a good number of participation of individuals in the event.
She said, “As the drums faded and the dragon boats prepared to take to the water, the spirit of the festival remained unmistakably clear, unity, vitality and friendship forged through shared tradition”.
Jacinth Henry Martin also expressed that she felt honored to represent the St. Kitts and Nevis as an Ambassador. She even acknowledged the importance of the event as she attended the event in the company of Taiwan’s Ambassador to the United States, Alexander Yui and Mrs Yui and other dignitaries from Taiwan and the United States.
She further mentioned the role of the event in highlighting Taiwanese culture and playing a crucial role in strengthening the bond between the United States and Taiwan. She stated, “The traditional Taiwanese games and demonstrations the crowds enjoyed reflected not only remarkable skill and teamwork, but also the joy, resilience, and community spirit that continue to strengthen the bonds between our countries and between Taiwan and the United States”.
This year Washington DC Dragon Boat Festival marks its 23th edition and the event was primarily hosted by the Taiwan-U.S. Cultural Association (TUSCA). The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) sponsored the event and was responsible for managing official ceremonies such as the traditional eye-dotting of the Dragons and entries of the teams who participated in the competition.
