The US State Department approved the probable Foreign Military Sale of two Bell 429 and two Bell 412Epi helicopters to Guyana for around $256 million.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency has said that the sale is not yet final, as it depends on acceptance and the final requirements of Guyana.
The four light helicopters would have unspecified customer-unique modifications.
The sales package also includes mission equipment, two WESCAM MX-10 cameras, ground support equipment, contractor-provided pilot and maintainer training and spares.
The agency said that Guyana would have no difficulty in absorbing the equipment into the armed forces of the country.
The agency said that there are no known offsets as part of the proposal.
The Bell 412Epi is often used for police roles, as well as military troop transportation and offshore oil rig worker and the helicopter has a range of 363nm (672km).

It is a twin-engined, four-bladed, light utility helicopter.
