BYD delivered the first fleet of electric buses to Barbados for public transport.

In Barbados, 33 battery-electric buses are operating under the direction of the Barbados Transport Board. Two more buses will be added by December.

The delivery given by BYD includes nine-meter-long solo buses. According to BYD, the buses have been adapted especially with a view of the market in Barbados.

BYD said that it had appointed Megapower Ltd as its local representative in Barbados to coordinate the project.

This company is working with BYD and the Barbados Transport Board on the project.

The delivery of the electric buses is an important stage in the Barbados climate protection plan, which sets a target of 100 per cent renewable energy and Carbon dioxide neutrality by 2030.
