After the broadcast of pollster Peter Wickham with hardline support to Team Unity, questions were raised on his so-called independent surveys. In his recent statement, Peter Wickham said: “Democracy is non-negotiable, and COVID-19 is non-Negotiable”.
Peter Wickham’s article is published on the People’s Labour Party web page. Moreover, Dr Timothy Harris himself shared his statement on his official Facebook page. There is no doubt that Peter Wickham is now more of a PLP party member than an independent pollster.
Former UN Ambassador, Sam Condor – who recently left PLP and joined St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party – stated that when rumours were spread about his exit from PLP. Peter Wickham called him and pressurised him to stay in the party.
Peter asked Sam Condor to stay in the party, and if Team Unity makes the next government, they will offer him a more prominent position. “If you (Sam Condor) leave Team Unity, there will be a big loss of Team Unity in upcoming general elections.”
St Kitts and Nevis is observing general elections on June 05 preparations of which has already initiated by Labour Party and Team Unity government.
All candidates for general elections filed their nominations on May 27 and election day is long-awaited.
Virtual public meetings are taking heat as the country is still under a state of emergency which is allegedly proposed by the government to restrict the freedom of opposition party and citizens of the country amid general elections.
The country is coronavirus free; however, the borders are closed, which means diaspora will not be allowed to contribute to the democracy of their country.
