The Embassy of Taiwan in St. Kitts and Nevis participated in Green Expo 2026 last week. The event was part of Environment Month activities organised by the Ministry of Environment of St. Kitts and Nevis and was held at the Royal Basseterre Valley National Park along the Kim Collins Highway.
The embassy participated through the St. Kitts and Nevis Solid Waste Management and Recycling Project in collaboration with the Taiwan Technical Mission. The project is a joint initiative between the Embassy of Taiwan and the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis.
At Green Expo 2026, the embassy hosted a booth titled “Let’s Recycle in St. Kitts and Nevis.” Volunteers engaged visitors through interactive games and hands-on activities. The first activity, the Waste Sorting Challenge, taught participants how to classify waste materials and highlighted that not all plastics are recyclable. Volunteers also shared information about sustainable waste management practices, including recycling and paper waste separation.
The second activity was Recycled Plastic Bottle Puzzle Activity, in which individuals engaged in a fun puzzle activity where they got to know about the journey of recycled bottles in St. Kitts and Nevis. In the puzzle they discover how bottles were collected in the island and transformed into useful daily products including recyclable bags and clothing.
Moreover, the embassy shared that through the Recycled Plastic Bottle Puzzle Activity, participants’ were educated about the importance of the recycling method and learned the significance of the circular economy. Additionally, the St. Kitts and Nevis Solid Waste Management and Recycling project expressed gratitude to every individual including students, families and community members who visited their booth throughout the day. They said, “Thank you to everyone who visited our booth”.
The management also thanked the Taiwan Technical Mission for continuously supporting them in advancing recycling and environmental sustainability in St. Kitts and Nevis.
