St Kitts and Nevis:- Prime Minister Terrance Drew, on the special day of World Autism Day greeted the individuals of the nation. PM Drew took to his official account to extend his wishes to the netizens on World Autism Day.

He stated, “ On this special day, we celebrate the incredible diversity and unique talents of individuals on the autism spectrum. It’s a reminder to embrace differences, foster inclusion and promote understanding. Let’s spread awareness, acceptance and love. A world where  everyone feels valued, respected, regardless of neurodiversity.”

The United Nations General Assembly has designated 2nd April as World Autism Day. This day is observed to create awareness for the human rights and fundamental freedoms amongst autistic people. The main aim of this day is to eliminate discrimination against autistic people.

This resolution was passed in 2007, and since then, the UN General Assembly has aimed at raising public awareness of autism.

April 2 is observed as World Autism Day:-

The year 2024 observes as the 17th annual World Autism Day. The agenda of this day is to fearlessly extend support towards the autistic people. To provide them with equal opportunities like others. To create a world where autistic people are celebrated and championed.

The United Nations General Assembly takes pivotal initiatives for autistic people.

UN will organise an event where the austic people will play a major role. The event will recognise a panel with autistic people from Africa, Asia, Pacific Europe, Latin America , Caribbean , North America and Oceania.

The speakers will be given an opportunity to express their views for the Sustainable Development Goals for the autistic people to thrive.

According to the information given out by the World Health Organisation, there is one out of 100 children have autism.

The WHO has provided some guidelines for the parents of autistic people:-

  • To be patient with your child and give him some time to process and understand what you have said.
  • To involve your child in some daily routine activities like cooking, shopping and cleaning.
  • To play a few of the activities with them.
  • To spend some time with your child so that he can connect with you.
  • To motivate him in all spheres of life.
  • To use hand gestures, picture symbols and make eye contact while communicating.

The autism can be caused due to genes and environmental factors. The family history can also be the cause of this. Autism is more likely to be found among boys. Some precautions are to be taken to manage it well. As, there is no proper way to cure or prevent it. The diagnosis of autism at an early stage can help to improve behaviour skills. It is important to train kids and develop in them the proper skills of communicating.
