The Public Works Department of St Kitts (PWD) is organising a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday (February 15) in St Peters Community Centre. The Department released the notice on Monday and invited the general public to attend the meeting.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 6 PM onwards. It will discuss the St. Peter’s Main Road Reconstruction and the FT Williams Highway East Project.
The Department has urged the communities to attend and engage in the meeting to discuss the plans and projects regarding the construction. They also said the general public’s participation and concerns are their priority.
“We encourage you to attend this meeting and actively participate in the discussion as we share our plans for the project’s implementation. Your engagement is important to us, and we look forward to addressing any questions or concerns you may have,” it further noted.
Notably, the previous week, the PWD in the Ministry of Public Infrastructure et al. also held talks with key stakeholders in the FT Williams Highway East and St Peters Main Road Rehabilitation Project.
It was attended by PWD Director George Gilbert, who chaired the meeting, supported by his staff, who comprise the project management team.
Representatives from the St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC) and The Cable, Flow, and Water Services Department attended. The owner and staff of the contracting company, Rock and Dirt Limited, also participated with the guidance of the company’s legal representative.
The discussions at the meeting aimed to prioritise the communication process between the various stakeholders. The meeting was held from 9 AM onwards at the PWD Conference Room.
During the meeting, they discussed the need to identify service providers’ utility routes and equipment above and below surface level and to coordinate efforts that call for identifying, moving, or upgrading the same to accommodate the new roadway.
The goal of the meeting was to facilitate better communication and workflow among stakeholders to prevent unnecessary delays in the project.
