The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, was recently featured in an interview with a media representative from Freedom FM, where he talked about several matters of national importance. The Prime Minister shares the updates regarding the second phase of the Government’s Graduate Finance Project with the Development Bank of St. Kitts and Nevis. The Prime Minister has made several critical announcements in this regard for the benefit of the people.
The Prime Minister shared that the second phase of the Graduate Finance Programme will be launched on June 1, 2023. Students with existing loans will now receive a major interest rate reduction from nine per cent (9%) to five per cent (5%) per annum. The prime Minister announced the government’s graduate finance programme on April 6, 2023. The theme under which the graduate finance programme was announced was “Removing Financial Barriers to Education”.
The government of Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew is committed to ensuring that all the students of St Kitts and Nevis can get access to quality education without the burden of interest rates weighing them down. The Minister of social security, national security, health, et al. entered a collaboration with the Development Bank of St Kitts and Nevis.

He stated that This initiative was listed among the proposed projects in St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party’s POST COVID RESET campaign in August 2022. Dr Drew believes that the program brings much-needed financial relief to the students of St Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew further noted that they want to make all the facilities available to the students so that they can further their educational qualifications. He gave the example of developed nations like the UK and the USA. He stated that these nations are allowing the people to further their education. As a small nation, they also have the responsibility to promote the education initiatives to the people.
