The 18th Biennial Conference of Presiding Officers and Clerks of the Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic Region of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Associated (CPA) is currently bring hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago parliament.

The conference began on August 13th and will finish today.

Sonia Boddie-Thompson, deputy clerk of the St. Kitts and Nevis National Assembly, is in attendance, representing the Federal Parliament of St Kitts and Nevis.

There are 14 other parliaments in attendance.

The deputy clerk recently served as the conference co-ordinator at the Regional Conference of the Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic Region CPA held in St. Kitts in June this year.

This year’s conference in Tobago is themed on forging greater links between parliamentary colleagues.

A variety of topics have been discussed amongst the delegates around best practice, challenges and solutions, relating to matters of the parliament and legislative assembles across the region.

Topics include recent procedural developments, parliamentary leadership, strengthening accountability and improving relations between parliament and society.

Climate change expert Kishan Kumarsingh will present a lecture discussing ‘Geopolitical Response to Climate Change’.
