A woman has pleaded guilty to six drug charges when she appeared at Charlestown Magistrates Court on Tuesday October 24.

Ms. Britany Peets, 19, of McKnight, was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to supply and importation of cocaine by St. Kitts and Nevis police.

St. Kitts and Nevis Customs additionally charged her with knowingly signing a false customs declaration form, knowingly making a false statement to a customs officer and importation of goods in a concealed manner to deceive a customs officer.

Two additional charges by St. Kitts and Nevis Customs were withdrawn.

Ms. Peets was sentenced to five years imprisonment on each count. She will only be required to serve four due to her time spent on remand.

Ms. Peets’ was arrested in February 2017. The then 18 year old was returning to St. Kitts and Nevis from St. Martin where she was found to have seven packages of cocaine in her possession.

The arrest was made in a joint operation between police officers of the Nevis Division of the St. Kitts and Nevis Police Force and Customs and Excise Department officers.
