Mr. Mohammed Asaria, Vice Chairman of Range Developments, has said that St. Kitts and Nevis is in a unique position with three leading hotel brands across the islands.
“You have a Part Hyatt, you have a Four Seasons, you have a Marriott – three branded hotels – as well as a number of well-leading independent hotels, which really puts you in a unique position compared to some of your peers,” Mr. Asaria said when speaking at a press conference with the prime minister Dr. Timothy Harris and minister for tourism Mr. Lindsay Grant.
The Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour opened its doors this month in the heart of Banana Bay. It currently has approximately 300 local permanent employees and has been acknowledged across international media as being one of the best hotel openings of 2017.
This is the first Park Hyatt to open in the Caribbean region.
It is expected that the positive reaction to the hotel’s opening will aid in boosting St. Kitts and Nevis’ tourism. It has been projected that for the 2017-2018 season, St. Kitts and Nevis will receive over 550 cruise ship calls, welcoming more than 1.5 million passengers.
“Between November, December and January, this economy will see pumped into is EC$199,555,662,” said Mr. Grant in last week’s National Assembly.
This projection is based on an average expenditure of US$111 per passenger.
