The Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis has declared today, September 20, National Clean Up Day.

The declaration comes following the passage of Hurricane Maria and the damage the islands have suffered.

Citizens and residents are encouraged to take part in the community efforts to clean up their areas.

The government has reported it is doing all that is possible to restore the federation to a state of normalcy, but appreciates the assistance of citizens and residents.

All are advised to proceed in damaged areas with extreme caution, as there may be fallen power lines with remain live and dangerous.

All essential services workers, including airport staff, health care workers and public works officers should report for duty today.


School management teams are also being urged to meet and assess the condition of their grounds.
