The St. Kitts and Nevis Team Unity administration has refused to provide two reduced VAT days for consumers for the second consecutive year.

Under the previous administration, consumers had two reduced VAT days per year.

SKN News reported that the discounted VAT day for 2017 has been announced for December 15.

“The one VAT day is for the well to do as this government only wants those rich and well to do to purchase vehicles and other big ticket items,” said a store clerk in Basseterre.

“This government of Timothy Harris is not for small people, never was and never will be. I work up the factory and we get half an hour for lunch each day. What can me and my girls do in half an hour?” said another consumer.

President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce Mr. Jose Rosa said they requested two discounted VAT days this year. The request was denied by the government.
