Dominica’s Roseau Market will reopen only less than three months after being nearly destroyed by Hurricane Maria.

Dominica was badly hit by Hurricane Maria in September, and the Roseau Market has made a speedy recovery.

It has been closed to the public because of the immense damage caused by the Category Five hurricane.

The Roseau Market Authority has said it was impossible to utilise the market with the amount of damage it sustained.

“The Roseau Market will be opened to vendors and the public on Friday, 1 December 2017,” the Authority said.

The news comes after reports of illegal street trading in the city, which is believed to be occurring due to the closure of the market.
